Sherry Luke: A Journey from Hobby to Featured Jewelry Artist

Originally hailing from Modesto, CA, Sherry Luke is the driving force behind Sherry's Jewelry, where she serves as the owner, maker, designer, and curator. Her artistic journey began as a self-taught endeavor in 2004, focusing on wire-sculpted jewelry. Driven by a desire to offer high-quality pieces at accessible prices, what started as a hobby blossomed into a thriving business.

Sherry's dedication to her craft is evident in her continuous pursuit of knowledge. While initially self-taught, she has honed her skills under the guidance of renowned artists Dale "Cougar" Armstrong and her original instructor, Preston. Furthering her expertise, she has also undertaken silversmithing classes, expanding her creative repertoire.

The inspiration for Sherry's distinctive designs stems from a rich tapestry of sources: vivid dreams, captivating mental images of jewelry, the beauty of nature, and the nuances of her surrounding environments. Her creative process is often organic, with initial concepts evolving into unique and intricate creations. Each piece reflects her profound love for the art and an exceptional attention to detail. Sherry's lifelong fascination with minerals and gemstones, coupled with her creative upbringing in a family of crafters and musicians, forms the foundation of her artistic expression.

Sherry's entrepreneurial spirit led her to share her creations beyond friends and coworkers. She participated in local Craft Fairs, including the Christmas Craft Fair in Mariposa, CA, gaining valuable experience and recognition. By 2010, Sherry's Jewelry began to solidify as a business, marked by the launch of her website. Her creations are also available on Etsy at www.sherrysjewelry.etsy.com.

Now residing in the Central Valley with her daughter, Sherry personally curates her materials, sourcing exquisite gemstones and minerals from both domestic and international locations. Her commitment extends beyond her artistry; she is a staunch supporter of the "No Dirty Gold" initiative and actively contributes to worthy causes through donations to organizations such as the MS Society and the SPCA.

Sherry's original designs and artistic talent have garnered recognition from prominent platforms in the jewelry making community, including www.WireSculpture.com, Artfire.com, and the esteemed Fire Mountain Gems.com, where she has been featured as an artist. Her story has also been highlighted in her local newspaper, the Merced Sun-Star (http://www.mercedsunstar.com/2012/06/16/2385844/debbie-croft-designer-creates.html#storylink=misearch).

Sherry is a proud member of the Self-Representing Artists of Jewelry Design (SRAJ.D).
